PEOPLE across Worcestershire and Herefordshire are being invited to have their say about the way the fire service is run.

A draft action plan setting out a range of priorities has been created by the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Authority.

It has now launched a 12-week consultation period for people to give their views on the future of the service.

Chief fire officer Paul Hayden said: “The recommendations in the report explore ways in which we may be able to further increase the level of service to the public.

“Although some of the recommendations are quite detailed we would like to encourage members of the public to read the action plan and to respond to our consultation questionnaire.”

The recommendations include: l To review revised management arrangements at Droitwich, Malvern and Evesham fire stations.

l To investigate the use of small fire appliances to deal with minor fires which will potentially reduce the number of times main appliances are unavailable to respond to more serious incidents.

l To develop the work being done to protect heritage sites.

l To combine resources with neighbouring fire services.

l To fulfil the need for a number of trained teams equipped with dry suits and other equipment which can respond in the event of a flood.
