Parking is made cheaper

THE cost of staying at a new Worcestershire car park has been finalised.

Wychavon District Council agreed to charge £1 for two hours stay at the new Hanbury Gateway car park in Droitwich and £2 for more than two hours.

Following the car park review, the executive board received a full report in April and authorised Ian Marshall the head of legal and support services to make various amendments to off-street parking places.

Public notice of the various amendments was subsequently given in accordance with the statutory process and two representations were received from members of the public in response to the proposed charges at the car park in Hanbury Road.

There were no objections to any of the other proposed amendments to the car parks order.

The representations received related to the original proposal for the car park, which was to charge £2 for up to three hours and £3 for more than that.

In the light of the representations received, the board recommended to agree charges of £1 for up to two hours and £2 for more than two hours.

If Worcester City Council did the same customers would come back into Worcester to buy.

I agree with TmP. I too try to avoid visiting Worcester because of its greedy parking charges.
