PROFITS have been hit at a popular maze attraction after thieves stole a large marquee and a freezer worth about £1,500.
Broadfields Maize Maze in Powick, near Worcester, was targeted by thieves with a vehicle big enough to make off with the 40-feet by 20-feet marquee and the Bennetts ice cream freezer. The theft took place at the Broadfields Farm site between 9.30pm on Monday, July 20, and 7.30am on Tuesday, July 21.
Owner Rob Colton said: “If we make £3,000 out of it this year we will be pleased, but already we’re down half that, easily. We have got five local kids here employed over the summer holidays and it’s just sad because it puts their jobs under pressure as well. It’s certainly going to affect the amount of work we offer them.”
The marquee is used as a reception area and rain shelter for the maze, which this year has a junk monsters adventure theme.
The maze is open most days from 10am-6pm.
