WE were back to our usual venue for our July meeting after having a very successful garden party in June at a member’s home. A report about the annual meeting from our delegate from Pumphouse WI was read and it seemed a most interesting occasion with a varied selection of speakers. She was particularly inspired as most members have been at the singing of Jerusalem in the Royal Albert Hall.
We had received several invitations from North Claines to their August summer tea party, and Whittington, Comer and Broomhall to September meetings. Members were asked to sign if they wished to go to any of these. Future group activities included the group meeting in October, a trip to Cribbs Causeway in November and a visit to Denman next year.
Rosemary, our president, then thanked those who had taken part in the craft competition and our silver certificate and photographs were on display. She welcomed Meg Farmer who gave an interesting talk on fostering children. Meg was asked to judge our competition for a reminder of our childhood and this was won by Maggie Carpenter with a picture of Peter Pan which was always above her bed.
It was decided to meet in August and go for a meal at the Retreat.
The raffle was drawn and the meeting ended at 7.30pm.
Next meeting will be at Whittington Village Hall on Tuesday, September 15, at 7.30pm, when we are having a kurling evening. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
