Costume drama at the Cathedral

A TOUCH of Hollywood glamour has come to Worcester Cathedral as an exclusive costume exhibition opens to the public.

Starstruck features up to 100 costumes worn by major stars in award winning films and theatre productions.

The exhibition will run from today until Sunday, September 6. Admission is £7.50 for adults, and £5 for children aged 5-17, with under fives free.

There will be supporting lectures and workshops, including demonstrations of stage make-up from a Royal Shakespeare Company expert, mediaeval dance displays, talks on Elizabethan costume, hat and headdress designs from Cleopatra to punk and a session for children on how to create realistic stage wounds.

Full details of the programme are available from Worcester Cathedral on 01905 732900.

Dean of the Cathedral Peter Atkinson said: “This brilliant exhibition will be enhanced by the magnificent surroundings of the cathedral nave and is part of the plan to develop it creatively as a public space, while ensuring other parts of the cathedral remain accessible.”
