I FIRMLY believe we have a squad at Worcester City that should be doing better than our league position suggests.

One point from five games is not good enough and, although we don’t want to dwell on the past, the players know the situation.

If they perform again like that they did in the first-half at Weymouth, they won’t be at the club much longer because somewhere down the line my job will be in jeopardy. It’s my livelihood at stake as well.

I highlighted that at training on Monday and will do so again when we meet up tomorrow night.

It was made clear when we took a player off after 25 minutes on Saturday that we won’t take any half measures and hopefully it will have had an effect on the team. Going through the motions won’t be tolerated.

Mark Clyde, Graham Ward, Rob Elvins and Josh Emery were all on the bench at the weekend so there is competition for places and we won’t be afraid to make changes. It’s 16 games without a win now and it’s getting to the embarrassing stage because we have got players who should be higher up the league and have a lot more points.

If we had been in this position this time last year I would have been really worried but the only thing I am worried and disappointed about at the moment is that we are not where I think the squad should be.

We have underachieved so far this season, whereas last year we were over-achieving at the start.

Hopefully the two games in three days against Staines and Bath City will be a massive boost for us.

I have also pointed the finger at myself a few times over whether it was a bad decision to play the same side against Weymouth.

It was a fantastic performance against Basingstoke in our last home match and I kept the same side because I felt they deserved it, but it didn’t work.

We wanted to build on that effort at the weekend and, hand on heart, I thought we would get a good result.

But the first-half performance was woeful, we let them play and dictate the pace of the game and that’s why we ended up losing.

Although we created enough chances to win the game, we didn’t put them away.

There is a fans’ forum after the game against Staines and people can fire questions at myself and Carl Heeley.

We will take the plaudits when we are winning and we will take the stick when we are getting beaten.

It’s not a happy camp at the moment although the confidence is still there and it would be nice to turn up to the forum with a smile on my face having won our first game of the season.
