A WOMAN from Worcester has tied the knott with her fiance after winning a £20,000 wedding in a radio station competition.

Hannah Speak, of Foxwell Street, Red Hill, came out on top in Wyvern FM’s Runaway Bride contest after getting all the way to Mallorca for just £10.

She enjoyed a lavish ceremony at the Hadley Bowling Green Inn, near Droitwich, with her new husband Adam Newton-Smith yesterday.

The 25-year-old reached the final by completing a number of challenges and amassing more than 5,000 public votes. The mum-of-three then went head to head with Marie Troake, from Hereford, after the pair were blindfolded and dropped off in a mystery location in Droitwich. The aim was to get the farthest away in 24 hours with £10.

Miss Speak’s first element of good fortune was a free taxi journey to Birmingham International Airport.

After an unsuccessful attempt trying to get a flight in Birmingham the taxi then took Miss Speak to East Midlands airport where she managed to ‘blag’ herself a free 1,000- mile flight to Parma.

Miss Troake only managed to get to Belfast.

Hubby Adam Newton-Smith, aged 27, had proposed on Christmas Day last year but the couple couldn’t afford to even start planning a wedding.

The blushing bride said: “Myself and Adam have had a tough few years. We had our first son in 2004 and I was only 20 at the time. We then gave birth to twins in 2007. We adore our children so much and all our money goes on them first.

“It was fantastic to win the competition – we couldn’t have afforded to have a wedding like this so for everything to have been paid for is like a dream come true.”

The winning package included a full wedding ceremony and reception at the Hadley Bowling Green Inn, rings to the value of £1,500 from Rock Lobster, dresses from Cathedral Belles and Promesse, groom’s outfits from Armstrongs, photography, flowers, a wedding cake and the use of two luxury cars from Mercedes Benz of Worcester.

The happy couple are now looking forward to a honeymoon in Tenerife.
