THERE are two big games coming up for Worcester City with Dover Athletic in Blue Square South and AFC Telford United in the FA Cup.

Victory against Bourne in the second qualifying round of the cup was a big boost to the club and it was a relief to hear the final whistle on Saturday.

Everybody was expecting us to win, almost to the extent that they were looking to see who we could get in the next round before the kick-off.

The FA Cup does turn up a few shocks and at 1-0 we could have been in a bit of trouble when they had their good five or 10-minute spell — that’s always a horrible scoreline to defend.

We lost our shape a bit when Craig Wilding and Shabir Khan came off so it was nice to see Rob Davies knock in the second and I could relax when Marco Adaggio headed the third.

Craig coming off was tactical but Shabir was injured.

It’s nice to get through to the next round and I’m looking forward to the Telford game on Saturday week.

With a big crowd expected, it should be a decent pay day and hopefully we can get some more money into the club by winning as well.

When we switched to Blue Square South we lost a lot of derby games and Telford are one of our closest rivals because of the number of fans the game attracts.

If we are successful, it might turn out to be the best draw we could have got.

However, the important game at the moment is Dover at home on Saturday which is another great game for us.

They are top of the league and flying.

It will be one of our biggest tests although we have already played some decent sides as well as those we should have done better against.

Saturday will be similar to the games we played last season against AFC Wimbledon when they were favourites to win the title.

These are the matches when we will see how good we are as a team and individually.

There will be nothing to be ashamed about if we work hard.

If players have not experienced big games at a higher level, these are the sort of matches they should enjoy to prove how good they are. I don’t want people at the club who don’t want to play in these sorts of fixtures.

Consistency has not been great of late so there could be a few changes for the match.

Rob Davies did well after he came on against Bourne so he’s got a chance of coming in and recent signing Matt Birley did nothing wrong against Thurrock but was cup-tied at the weekend.

We are waiting to hear if midfielder Josh Emery can be involved after he was recalled by Cheltenham last weekend and travelled with their first-team squad for the 4-1 defeat at Aldershot.

Although he didn’t make the matchday 18, it would have been good experience for him.

There is still a bit of money left in the budget so I am still looking to add to the squad.

We need a forward to help Marco, Matt Dinsmore and Rob Elvins because three strikers is not realistically enough.
