A 22-year-old father with ‘anger issues’ smashed a window after arguing with his girlfriend.

Brendan George, of Bath Road, Worcester, pleaded guilty to criminal damage at Worcester Magistrates Court.

He is at risk of going to jail because the offence puts him in breach of a suspended prison sentence, but his solicitor said it was unlikey.

Mark Sheward, defending, said George was now addressing his problems and had gone to a doctor about his anger.

He said: “He’s been living with this angry side to his nature all his life.

“There may be things from his past, from his childhood, which explain why he acts this way.”

George broke the window of a porch door belonging to Nexus housing association after arguing with his partner.

Matt Dodson, prosecuting, said: “He had slept on the sofa and the next morning he woke up in a bad mood. He started slamming and throwing things around.

“His partner asked him to leave.

“He did initially go through the porch door, but then leant back through. He smashed the glass panel of the door.”

During police interview George, who had three previous convictions for criminal damage, said that he had acted in anger.

Magistrates sentenced him to a 12-month community order with 40 hours unpaid work. He was ordered to pay £184 compensation to Nexus.
