PEOPLE in Worcestershire are being warned about a telephone scam.

Trading Standards say the con involves people ringing up claiming to be from BT or Ofcom and claiming unless a sum of money - usually £6 - is paid within 10 days their lines will be cut.

Anyone who receives such a call should not give out personal or bank details, and instead should call their service provider’s nuisance call bureau and pass on details to Ofcom.

Anyone who has already given out bank details should call their bank immediately and contact Ofcom's advisory team on 0300 123 3333.
