PERIOD instruments will feature in a concert marking 100 years of church worship.

St Martin’s with St Peter’s Church, London Road, Worcester, is this year marking a century since the laying of its foundation stone with its first centenary concert on Saturday at 7.30pm. The then St Martin’s Church moved from The Cornmarket, in the city centre, to its current site to cope with Worcester’s expanding population.

A programme of music entitled From Old to New St Martin’s will boast pieces from the 18th century played with period instruments and works from the past 100 years. Shirley Scott, the church’s administrator of music, said: “It’s an absolutely delightful, unusual and diverse choice of pieces with a tribute to Bach by composer and director of music at Rugby Parish Church, Nicholas Scott-Burt.”

Tickets are £8, concessions £7, with accompanied under-16s free, available from the church office on 01905 358083.
