A MAN who rode his motorbike like a ‘lunatic’ before knocking over a pedestrian has been given an 18 month driving ban by Worcester’s magistrates.

Lynton Jones, aged 21, of Heath Close, Hallow, near Worcester, had been seen by a number of witnesses overtaking cars along the A38 near Wychbold last October.

Riding a Yamaha bike, he then hit a man trying to cross the road, knocking him unconscious.

Jones, who had admitted driving a motor vehicle dangerously, also admitted another charge of driving without care and attention in Worcester city centre in March when a police officer saw him and another motorcyclist racing.

The forklift driver was given an 18 month driving ban, told he would need an extended re-test when he wanted to get his licence back, ordered to undertake 200 hours unpaid work and costs of £80 for the charge of driving dangerously.

For driving without care and attention, he will have his new licence endorsed with five penalty points, was fined £270, ordered to pay costs of £135 and a victim surcharge of £15.
