AUTUMN was celebrated by slides showing the colour of trees at Westonbirt, with appropriate music, as part of the topic by speakers Mr and Mrs Betts. We also saw gardens of Cornwall, including Heligan and the Eden Project.

Our president Sally Sharp mentioned especially the colours and types of foliage in the rosebowl this month.

There are lots of activities and outings during the next few weeks, including the pub lunch, an evening to try out our new curling set on October 16 and a tea party in aid of the Cobalt Unit on November 11. There will also be a coach trip to Gloucester Quays for members and friends on November 19, invitations from adjacent WIs Leigh and Bransford on December 1, a festive carol service in Martley Church on December 5 and from Storridge on December 10.

Last year members filled and sent shoe boxes to troops in Afghanistan and a list of suitable items was available for anyone wanting to take part in this initiative.

November 4 is the date of the annual meeting when the present committee will be standing down and elections will be held to replace them.
