A NEW computerised library system has been introduced so pupils at a Worcester school can read more books for pleasure.

Officially opened by city MP Mike Foster, children at the Dines Green Primary School in Tudor Way now have the new system up and running as part of children’s book week.

Literacy and library co-ordinator at the school Lottie Smith said it was an exciting new development for the school’s library system, and cost £1,200 “It is a computerbased system which allows children to issue the books to themselves and we want it to help children take more books home so they can read more for pleasure,”

she said.

“We have also trained some pupil librarians.

“Before this system was in we didn’t have a tracking system for the books.”

Mrs Smith said they had received half of the money from the Friends of Dines Green Primary School and the rest of the money has raised through events at the school.
