Ballot: Cannabis classification

IN 2004 cannabis was classed as a class C drug rather than the more serious class B. But in 2008 Home Secretary Jacqui Smith changed it back.

This was done, it is said, despite official Government advisers recommending otherwise.

Today Professor David Nutt, of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, says it the drug does not cause major health issues.

He says it is no worse than alcohol and tobacco, and also claims that ecstacy is no more dangerous than riding a horse.

In our poll today we want to know if, when it comes to illegal substances, the Government should take the word of its own experts rather than making its own mind up.
