DOING the double over Dorchester has to be our aim now after a poor few days at St George’s Lane.

Not getting anything from the games against Welling United and Chelmsford City was disappointing. They were two contrasting performances but the bottom line is we didn’t pick up any points which is what football is about.

The one positive thing was we knocked the ball around well against Chelmsford, looked the better side and retained possession.

I think we are still creating chances and did that on Monday against a team who are not going to be in the bottom half of the table. They have got good players and, in captain David Rainford, one of the best in the league.

But Saturday was absolutely abysmal and I am not surprised the 516 crowd was as low as it was on Monday. We have got to try and give some form of entertainment to our supporters even if we don’t win. By and large, we have provided value for money at home but Saturday was not acceptable.

We are getting nearer to Christmas and we need to be beating the teams around us in the table.

People say we are too good to go down but I have heard that with the likes of Nottingham Forest and Leeds United. We have got to pick up points but, if we don’t turn up or give teams too much respect, we are going to find ourselves towards the bottom and I don’t think we should be there. However, that is the situation and now we have got to roll our sleeves up, go down to Dorchester and start picking up points.

I want to get three points at the weekend. We defeated Dorchester 4-0 at our place in September and they were spitting feathers after the game because we could have won by a lot more.

They have got a point to prove but we’ll play as aggressively as we can going forward and hopefully get back to keeping a clean sheet.

Left-back Shabir Khan will be available for the weekend but soon we will lose him for about four weeks following his international call-up for Pakistan.

He is one of several players heading over from Great Britain for the South Asian Football Federation Cup and it’s a fantastic opportunity for him.

The club can’t stand in his way. I am disappointed to lose him because Monday was probably his best game but we will have Alfie Carter to come into the team.

We wish Shabir well and hopefully he will come back fit and raring to go. His call-up also brings a bit of pride back to the club.

Shabir and his family are going to be proud and I am pleased for him because he’s a great lad and works hard. He’s getting mentally stronger with every game and it’s a good opportunity for him to represent his country.
