A WOMAN who smashed a bottle in her ex-partner’s face after an argument in a pub beer garden has been found guilty of causing actual bodily harm.

Laura Lock had been in a “violent” relationship with Gavin Young for about five years, Worcester Magis-trates Court was told.

The couple, who have a child together, ended their relationship at the beginning of this year and had been disputing custody arr-angements for the youngster. Lock, aged 23, of Teesdale Close, Droitwich, had custody of the child and Mr Young was attempting to secure regular contact.

On Friday, July 3, Mr Young was in the Star and Garter in High Street, Droitwich, when Lock came in at about 10.30pm with two friends.

Leslie Ashton, prosecuting, said Mr Young went outside with his friends but was then approached by Lock, who assaulted him with a bottle.

Giving evidence, Mr Young said: “She came in between me and my friend and said, ‘You will never see your daughter again, I will make sure of it in court’.

“She was carrying a bottle of Smirnoff Ice in her right hand and as I turned back to speak to my friend something has gone around my face and I’ve gone down to the floor.

“I was bleeding from my nose and face and my top was full of blood. None of my mates could believe what had happened; they were all in shock.”

The trial was told how Mr Young had to be taken to hospital and have stitches to a wound on the bridge of his nose. He also had cuts to his face and cheek.

Lock, who denied causing actual bodily harm, said Mr Young had approached her with a pint glass in his hand and was attempting to hit her with it. Giving evidence, Lock told the court she had blocked the pint glass with her hand which had then caused Mr Young’s injuries.

Lock was found guilty after about 30 minutes of deliberations.

Magistrates ordered a full pre-sentence report to be carried out and Lock will reappear for sentencing on Monday, November 30.
