A SCHOOL has celebrated the refurbishment of its new hall with an open day.

Staff and pupils at Eckington First School, near Pershore, proudly opened their doors to the community so they were able to see the transformation of the new hall.

About 90 parents, former pupils and villagers were welcomed by a speech from chairman of governors Dr Susan Snaith.

Maths activities and challenges were set up for the children to complete while the parents watched and encouraged.

Each child had also been asked to make a paper link, writing on each link what they liked about their new hall.

The links were then put together to make a large paper chain that was cut to open the new hall.

Guests were also given a chance to see classrooms as well as see children’s work on display.

Headteacher Gail Whiting said: “The open day went superbly and was a very successful village community event.”

Visitors then enjoyed cups of tea to finish the celebrations.
