Dancing queens raise cash

MONEY, Money, Money and all the rest of the hits were played at a Mamma Mia dance party with the Abba Girls tribute band at Sixways Stadium Worcester to raise funds for life-saving breast cancer research charity Breakthrough.

More than 120 people danced the night away with many entering into the spirit of the evening by wearing Abba costumes or glitzy 1970s dress. The sensational night of fun and fund-raising held during breast cancer awareness month raised £940 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Event organiser and cancer survivor Karen Edwards said: “I would like to extend my thanks to all those who gave prizes, their time and money for this worthwhile cause helping to make our first event such a resounding success. Nearly 46,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year and by fundraising in the local community we can make a real difference to women now and in the future.”

The group is now focusing its efforts on Bling for Breakthrough – gaining donations of unwanted gold and silver. For details, e-mail worcesterbreakthrough@ hotmail.com or call 07775 613201.
