MYSTERY continues to surround the temporary closure of a town post office.
Customers in Droitwich were unable to use the main Victoria Square post office for five days after it shut on Friday, November 13.
It re-opened on Wednesday, November 18, following what the Royal Mail called an "audit".
Peter Luff, Conservative MP for Mid-Worcestershire, has asked the company for the reasons behind the closure.
Customers arriving to use the post office during its closure found a note blaming “unforeseen circumstances”.
Earlier this week a spokesman for Royal Mail Group apologised for any inconvenience.
“Following an audit we have closed the branch to allow for further investigation,” he said.
Royal Mail has refused to expand on the reasons for the closure and would not say whether the audit had been planned or not.
Mr Luff said he hadn’t had any official response to his query but was giving the Royal Mail time to explain its reasons.
“It is the most important post office in the town and we do need some reassurance it [a closure] will not happen again,” he said.
