THE time for talking is over — we have to turn words into points and it has to start now.

So often I see my players in the press talking about how the team are too good to go down.

That is all well and good, but unless we start putting a winning run in the league together then we are going to stay where we are.

We are far too close to the bottom three for my liking and we need to start being strong.

We go into Saturday’s match against Bishop’s Stortford unbeaten in our last four games and we have a great deal of confidence.

We have won our last two games and it would be great if we can make it three-in-a-row.

But Bishop’s Stortford are a good side and they have a striker who is scoring for fun at the moment in Charlie Sheringham — yes, the son of former England hitman Teddy.

We need to keep picking up the points in the league as well as doing well in the FA Trophy — but winning matches in that competition is a bonus.

We have been given what I consider to be a really good draw. We face Blue Square Premier side Grays Athletic at home.

‘We have won our last two games and it would be great if we can make it three-in-a-row.’ It will be good for my players to test themselves against a team from a higher division.

We could have got an away tie or even a side from a lower league, but to get a team from the Blue Square Premier at home is something that we can look forward to.

They are managed by former West Ham defender Julian Dicks and I came up against him a few times as a player. His style wasn’t too unlike that of Stuart Pearce.

Dicks had the will to win both his individual and team battles and that led to him to having a successful playing career.

He is now looking to pass on his knowledge at Grays and I really wish him well — apart from when they play us in a couple of weeks.

The 2-1 Trophy win over Burnham, with goals from Matt Birley and Craig Wilding, was a good result and, having watched them a couple of times, I knew it wasn’t going to be an easy match.

It also gave the club a much-needed £4,000, but I don’t think I will get to see much, if any, of that money for the squad.

We are running pretty close to budget as it is. Carl Heeley has been fantastic in making sure that we don’t go over.

We are given a sum at the start of the season and that is divided into 38 and Carl keeps tabs on it week to week so we know where we are.
