MISS Worcester has made it through to the finals of the brand new talent show So You Think You Can Dance?

Leanne Groutage has been hand-picked to take part in the television show, which is already huge in America.

The BBC version, which will air in the new year, aims to find Britain’s favourite dancer.

Cat Deeley will present the show while producer Nigel Lythgoe and choreographer Arlene Phillips will judge the contestants as they are challenged to perform different styles of dance.

Miss Groutage made it through the auditions in Manchester earlier this year and is now off to “choreography camp”.

The 17-year-old – who turns 18 in January – will go to London on Wednesday and should know whether she has made it onto the live TV finals by Friday.

“I’m so excited because it’s such an opportunity,” she said. “But I’m still scared. So many good people weren’t getting through the auditions, I really didn’t think I would.”

The Worcester Sixth Form College student, of Holt Heath, near Worcester, is a member of the Harlequin Stage School and is no stranger to dancing on stage.

She reached the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent in 2008 and has already won a scholarship to the London Studio Centre Dance School, which she will attend next year.

“I like lyrical dance and I’m classically trained, so I love ballet,” said Miss Groutage.

“I’ve been put into the jazz category for the show but if I get through I’ll have to do all sorts of styles. They’ll try to push the contestants to their limits.”
