ROAD users are being urged to take extra care as the county’s fleet of gritters make their first trips of the winter tonight with temperatures set to fall below freezing.
Worcestershire County Council is asking drivers to adjust their driving accordingly, as even though a road maybe gritted, it doesn't guarantee it is safe to drive at normal speed.
In certain weather, roads can re-freeze once they have been treated.
The winter maintenance team operates a fleet of 29 gritters and seven small demountable gritters, as well as a database of other local contractors who can be called on if necessary to keep the road network flowing.
The routine treatment of Worcestershire's roads involvs around 1,300km of highways.
