Youngsters are flying the flag for Gambians

BABIES and toddlers wore the colours of the Gambian flag for a special fund-raiser.

Children who go to Woodgreen Day Nursery in Trotshill Lane East, Warndon Villages, Worcester, raised £120 at a fund-raising day for Fresh Start Foundation (FSF).

The Worcester-based charity supports vulnerable children in the Gambia, West Africa, by providing education and healthcare.

FSF co-founder Rebecca Daffeh, whose daughter Safia attends Woodgreen, said the event was a huge success and all the children went dressed in the Gambian flag colours.

“The whole nursery did a variety of cultural activities,” said Mrs Daffeh.

“Nursery manager Kim Foster said that the staff thoroughly enjoyed introducing the Gambian culture to the children through play and promoting FSF’s work to the parents.”

The nursery has also decided to donate money to the charity instead of sending Christmas cards.

Any other schools, nurseries or businesses interested in hosting themed fund-raisers can call FSF on 07859 927472 or e-mail lamin_fsf@hot mail.co.uk.
