UPTON-on-Severn women are being encouraged to donate their old bras to help bring a vital breast unit to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Annie Potts, of Fair Exchange, on the Waterside, is acting as a collection point for the Worcester Breast Unit Appeal. Recycled bras will help generate cash for the new unit, which would help to cut patient waiting times in half and provide a vastly improved experience for breast cancer sufferers.

Mrs Potts said the appeal hopes to break the current world record of 166,000 by collecting more than 200,000 bras and laying them out end-to-end around Worcester Racecourse.

“Absolutely any bra will do and I am hoping for a big response from the people of Upton,” she said.
