A COFFEE morning and bring-and-buy sale raised more than £1,000 towards the creation of a new dedicated breast unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Money raised by the event, which was organised by Myriam Taylor, will go towards the £2.5 million needed to convert a building into a new breast unit at the Worcester hospital.

The unit will cut waiting times for patients in half and will provide a less clinical and more convenient service for them, allowing them more privacy and dignity in their treatment and care.

Your Worcester News is backing the campaign until the total has been raised by the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign after the paper formally adopted the campaign at its launch.

Mrs Taylor, from Droitwich, said: “I have been humbled and overwhelmed by people’s response and their generosity, especially the individuals who have all contributed by donating their money and time. I would also like to say a big thank you to all the shops and restaurants in the Droitwich area that made generous contributions to the cause.”
