WHILE Stacey impressed the crowd with her powerful voice, it was Olly’s wiggling hips that wowed his Worcester fans.
The X Factor contestants Stacey Solomon and Olly Murs performed in Worcester over the Christmas break.
Essex girl Stacey, who came third in hugely popular television show, sang on Wednesday, December 23, while Olly, who came second, performed on Boxing Day.
Thousands of people packed into Tramps nightclub to see the singers up close.
Olivia Chambers, of Malvern, went along to see X Factor finalists Rachel Adedeji, Jamie Archer, John and Edward Grimes, Stacey and Olly.
The 26-year-old said: “I can’t believe they all came to Worcester. It’s been brilliant; so much fun.
“We wanted Olly to win from the start. I loved Joe, but Olly is a real showman. His dancing is brilliant.”
Obviously impressed with the screaming reception he received at Tramps, Olly, who showcased some of his trademark dancing moves, said: “This time last year I was gigging in a pub and now I’m coming here and you’re all here to see me.
“You lot are mental. I love it.
“And trust me, whoever does the X Factor, it’s not an easy experience. You’ve got to go through so many auditions before you even get to the judges.”
Olly performed a handful of up tempo songs from the show, including Fool In Love, Twist and Shout, Can You Feel It and Stevie Wonder’s Superstition.
Tramps, in Angel Place, Worcester, secured an exclusive deal for all of the X Factor acts – excluding overall winner Joe McElderry – to visit the city.
As well as performing live, the contestants met a select number of fans who bought VIP tickets.
Every week excitable fans, whether they were on the dance floor or VIP balcony, were on hand with camera phones, eager to see their X Factor idols up close.
Dean Hill, general manager of the club, said the gigs had been a real coup for the city, as well as for the city centre venue.
Talking about Stacey’s recent performance he said: “Stacey was a fantastic singer and a lovely person.
“She will go far.”
The latest series of the X Factor ended on Sunday, December 13 – an estimated 19 million people tuned in to watch the final when 18-year-old Joe McElderry was crowned as the winner.
It is not yet known if Tramps will sign another deal for contestants from next year’s show to perform in the city, but fans are hopeful.
