Did an alien spaceship pass over my house?

A WORCESTER man has taken photos of what could be a UFO flying through the skies on New Year’s Eve.

The pictures were captured by 27-year-old Jason Day on his camera phone as a mysterious object passed over his home in Thorn Avenue, Brickfields, at about 9pm.

Mr Day had gone outside for a cigarette when he first noticed the UFO but it disappeared and he went back inside.

When he came back out, this time with a camera phone, it reappeared and he was able to capture an image of it.

Mr Day, an aircraft enthusiast, said he was not sure what it was but was convinced it wasn’t a plane.

He said: “There was no sound whatsoever when it came over. I just scratched my head and went back to talk to my wife. I went back outside to have the cigarette and it was there again, coming from the back of my garden, over the top of my house.

“On the two photographs I took, it appears to have changed shape. On one of the photographs it looks sort of parachute-shaped. I don’t know what it was but I’m certain it was not a plane. When I told my son the next morning he said, ‘Are UFOs real, Dad?’”

In the past it has been suggested that the UFOs are simply Chinese lanterns which are sometimes used at weddings and other celebrations.

Andrew Milner of The Ridings in Droitwich also saw “two dozen lights over his home at about 12.15am yesterday morning, shortly after the start of the new year, but believes what he saw were probably Chinese lanterns.

Michael Soper, media spokesman for Contact International UFO research, said he could not comment on the photographs until he had consulted fellow experts.

But he said it would be possible to check if the object was travelling in the same direction as the wind or whether there were any parties nearby which could indicate it was a Chinese lantern.

He said: “We do want people to come forward and tell us about the sightings. We have had videos of fast-moving objects in the sky. There are a number of UFO hot spots, including Herefordshire and the Malvern Hills.”

I think the men from Mars invaded the St Johns area on new years morning just after midnight there were 20 or more spaceships flying by or were they shooting stars, but I think we will have io settle for Chinese Lanterns.

As we let our chinese lanterns off on New Yeaars eve after midnight and they sailed away high in the sky I said to our friends that I bet it would be in the Evening News someone had seen a UFO.

It was great watching all the Chinese Lanterns floating over on New Years Eve. I just cant believe that firstly someone is dopey enough to think they are from outer space, and secondly that the Worcester News doesnt just tell him "they were Chinese Lanterns mate" and dedicated news space to real news instead!

We saw lots of these over the roof of our house on New Years Eve too just after midnight. My daughter has pictures on her mobile phone.
We assumed they were lanterns of some description, but wondered why Chinese lanterns as their New Year isn't until much later.

They were aliens. They disguise themselves as Chinese Lanterns to fool us, but actually come from a planet hidden in a distant galaxy far beyond the Milky Way. One landed in my garden at about 12:35 am, shouted 'Hootenany', gave me a big kiss and asked me to help him finish of a bottle of Veuve Clicquot 2016. He said it was better than the 2037 but was getting confused with reverse time travel. Me, I'm off to find some Malvern Water for my headache. Happy New Year to you all, my lovelies!

Why do Worcester News waste time printing stuff like this, we all know they are chinese lanterns, surely the people that work for WN also know this - or are they aliens themselves.
I saw big sparkly things in the sky that made a loud bang - were these the spaceships backfiring I wonder!

You've gotta take your hats off to the aliens, they know when to visit earth for a bit of sight-seeing. They can buzz around our skies all they like on New Years Eve knowing that everyone will put it down to chinese lanterns. Well done to them.

I suppose we should be pleased that there is nothing horrible or tragic happening in Worcester so that space can be given over to such a silly bit of fluff! I love this quote in the article:
"But he said it would be possible to check if the object was travelling in the same direction as the wind or whether there were any parties nearby which could indicate it was a Chinese lantern."
Hmmm now let me think.. New Years Eve - I wonder if they just might have been some parties in the area?!! Amazing to think that there are people whose job it is to check this out.

I don't know about Worcester, Droitwich or Evesham, but just after midnight on the 31st December, in Pershore, there were SEVERAL flying saucers - flying very low and back-firing constantly!

I saw the engine flashes, but missed to see the shape of the vehicle itself.

Where they crashed, I don't know, but the WN will no doubt report it.

Regarding Chinese Lanterns - fine! Why not?

Question - where do they land or "come to earth" and who collects them up?

Or are they just left lying around somewhere, on the rest of our litter-strewn island?

I doubt they are they edible - just left for curious cattle and sheep to choke on, I suppose? So what's new?

Very pleased to hear that, Windup - thanks.

As I still say - "you learn something everyday"!

Mind you - the two that Jason Day saw in Brickfields, were most likely tethered to a single passing craft - (they rarely travel close together, only in Will Smith films), so it was probably secretly spying on Worcester, ready for an invasion in the coming next few years.

Maybe even looking for possible housing sites, under cover of darkness?

...but I reveal too much already!

PS: It was NOT Dr.Who - silly idea, that!

I guess it passed over his house, thought that there was no intelligent life form around, considered what a waste of a journey it had been, over nmillions and millions of miles, taking thousands of years, to find another planet where there were signs of life - didnt fancy the journey back home, sospontaneously combusted.

I believe an alien broke into my house late at night on New Years eve.

I believe this because after consuming one or two alcoholic drinks in town, just to put me into a deep sleep, I awoke to find all the money in my wallet missing. I also believe the alien hit me on the head to confirm my slumber as I woke with a splitting head ache, he must also have dressed me in my sleep. Sneaky little git.

I was also possibly probed, as my backside was killing me all day.
