MISS Worcester has failed to make the live finals of a new TV talent show - but was among the last 13 girls left in the competition.

Viewers of BBC show 'So you think you can dance?' saw Leanne Groutage battle for a coveted place in the finals during the first episode on Saturday night.

She had already triumphed at auditions in Manchester to reach “choreography camp” - where hopefuls had to master different dance styles to impress judges Nigel Lythgoe and Arlene Phillips.

However, after Miss Groutage, of Holt Heath, near Worcester, danced in a group of four to Kanye West's 'Stronger', judges said the music and routine did not suit her dancing.

Ms Phillips said Miss Groutage did not seem to take it seriously enough and gave the impression she thought it was a bit of a "giggle".

The former Strictly Come Dancing judge added: "This is not a game.

“This is about £100,000 and the chance to dance in Hollywood.”

Afterwards, Miss Groutage, said: "I am young but they have been saying I need to grow up, but that is my dancing style and I like dancing like that so I won’t change it."

Despite the disappointment, the Worcester Sixth Form College student has already won a scholarship to the London Studio Centre Dance School, which she will attend next year.
