STUDENTS from the University of Worcester bounced and batted as part of a 24-hour charity marathon.

Students and members of the public trampolined and played badminton to raise money for the County Air Ambulance and the trampolining club, which needs new crash mats and a new trampoline.

Alex Mullen-Jones, chairman of the badminton club, said: “It went really well. It started a little slow, but soon picked up, and we had about 50 to 60 people taking part in the badminton marathon. It was very tiring, but everyone has done tremendously and we hope to have raised about £300 for the County Air Ambulance.”

Hayley Parker, chairman of the trampolining club, said about £450 had been raised to assist in buying new equipment.

She said: “It has been a really fun event with everyone getting in the spirit and giving it their all. We had lots of fun and games, even playing badminton on the trampolines.

“We are all completely shattered now though.”

Andy Elleray, Worcester Students’ Union’s vice president of student groups, said: “I’m really proud of both clubs for the effort they have put into this event.

“It has been fantastic and we hope to do more events like this in the future with some of our other clubs and societies.”
