IT has been a really tough couple of weeks for us at Worcester City — in fact I feel like I have been pulling teeth.

Because of the weather, we haven’t been able to train or play any games and I haven’t been able to watch any matches either.

We are all hoping that Saturday’s match at Bishop’s Stortford goes ahead — we need to play football.

What does concern me a little, however, is that we were hitting a bit of form before the enforced break and I just hope we can pick up from where we left off.

We were set to spend last night training at St George’s Lane and it will be good just to get back out on some grass, even if all we end up doing is having a snowball fight!

Over the past couple of weeks we haven’t been able to get out to train as a group, but I’m sure the players who are members of gyms have been keeping their fitness up — I know striker Marco Adaggio is always in the gym.

Because of the weather, we haven’t even been able to do any running out on the roads and pavements as they are just too bad. Hopefully, it will start to get warmer.

What has been disappointing during this cold snap is that we have had to cancel a lot of home games and obviously that isn’t great for the club in terms of revenue. The positive is that we will have a lot of home games in the near future and that will obviously help the club.

Then, of course, we have a potential derby in the FA Trophy at the end of this month against Kidderminster Harriers, should we beat Carshalton Athletic and they get past Lewes.

The trip to Bishop’s Stortford is going to be another tough one for us as they like to get the ball down and pass it around.

They also have Charlie Sheringham, who has been scoring goals for fun at this level for the past couple of seasons. We have already played them at our place so we know they have got some very good players.

Hopefully, we will have left-back Shabir Khan available. His three-match suspension for the sending off at Newport County on New Year’s Day is due to kick in on Friday, but we have lodged an appeal, which will be heard tomorrow.

I would be very, very shocked if the decision isn’t overturned. We have sent video evidence to the Football Association. Shabir was told he was sent off for use of the elbow and the report now says shoulder.

We have had confirmation from the FA that they have received everything.

Although I hope it won’t come to it, I do have to prepare for the worst and I do have one or two options to slot in for Shabir — but it all depends on how fit and sharp everyone is in training this week.
