Lenches Women's Institute

PRESIDENT Pauline Bamber welcomed 31 members to the January meeting.

At the Christmas party meeting in December, £60 was raised for the air ambulance.

The Lenches are hosting a crossword day on February 8 and helpers were requested. There is an open day at WI House on February 18.

The science club programme was put on the noticeboard for all those who are interested. Jane Powell asked for members who would like to take part in some of the classes in the creative activities competition “all things bright and beautiful” at the annual council meeting on March 24. The guest speaker at this meeting is Bob Flowerdew from Gardener’s Question Time.

Members were asked to take their old bras to help to raise funds for the Worcestershire Breast Cancer Unit.

Lenches WI is hosting the Evesham Vale group spring meeting on April 27.

After the business part of the meeting was concluded Pauline introduced our speaker Roy Allbut whose talk was Our Heritage In Stained Glass. After he retired he went to university to study the history of art, and started to take an interest in stained glass and went on to do his masters degree in stained glass windows. He gave an interesting talk on stained glass through the centuries, with a slide illustration of various windows mainly in the Midlands. Pauline thanked Roy for his very interesting talk.

The tea hostesses were Jenny Dainty and Barbara Forrester.

The next meeting is February 15.
