A SPECIAL day of storytelling has been held for children at a Worcester park.

The event on Saturday, which included finger puppet making, was held as part of National Storytelling Week.

About 25 youngsters between five and eight years old went to Gheluvelt Park in Barbourne to listen to magical stories about the hidden world of ponds and trees.

Storyteller Neil Alderson from St John’s Library read the stories and there was a finger puppet workshop in the Pump Rooms.

Fatima Kemili, park play ranger, said: “It was a very good day and the children really enjoyed themselves.

“The story was based on the pond and trees and they loved listening to Neil as he is a very good storyteller.

The parents also joined in which was nice and it was a successful day all round.”
