No more snow, but plenty of snowdrops

AS winter comes to an end, one garden in Worcester is celebrating the change of seasons.

Greyfriars garden in Friar Street was opened to the public on Saturday as part of the National Gardens Scheme (NGS).

The site was one of nearly 90 gardens which opened to the public in February to raise money for good causes such as Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Help the Hospices and Crossroads Cares.

Valerie Caldwell, head of marketing at the NGS, said: “The NGS gardens that open early in the year are really popular, attracting more than 35,000 people.

“With an average entrance fee of less than £3, and most gardens admitting children 16 and under free, a garden visit is excellent value for money – and the best part is that the money raised goes to such good causes.”

Dial Park in Chaddesley Corbett will be opening on Wednesday, February 17, and Thursday, February 18, for the scheme.

Barnards Green House in Poolbrook Road, Malvern, will be opened by appointment.
