BALLOT: Are you doing anything special for Valentine's Day?

LOVE is in the air... but is it for you?

Valentine's Day is just around the corner (don't say we haven't reminded you fellas - it's on Sunday) and the romantics among you will be planning something special to mark the occasion.

Roses and cards will be bought like they're going out of fashion, meals will be booked or cooked, movies rented and candles readied as the clock counts down.

Some cynics, however, will be avoiding February 14 like the plague, supported by claims of commercialism.

But which side of the fence are you on? Is Valentine's Day a chance to demonstrate your love for that special someone or an opportunity for businesses to cash in?

Do you need to wait for that one day a year to show your affections or is it a year-round thing for you anyway?

Vote in our poll below and, if you're making plans, tell us what you're up to in the comment box below.

Only morons will see the need to 'do something special' because they're so shallow that's where the horizon of their minds ends.

If your significant other really does ditch you (or think less of you) just because you didn't buy her a heart shaped box of chocolates or some other cheap tat, then perhaps she wasn't worth it in the first place.

Humbug. It's just a marketing exercise for card companies, restaurants, etc.

It's the gestures that don't cost money that mean the most.....

Yeh , do something random, this Valentine stuff is just a rip off. Buy your missus some flowers and choccies when some other day when you feel like it and don't be a consumerist sheep.

I might get the wife some flowers tomorrow .... that'll shock her :)

When I bring my wife flowers, she usually says "What are you so guilty about?"
