North Claines Women's Institute

IT was “business as usual” for North Claines WI at their February meeting after the cancellation of the January one – and what a busy time it was.

There were many forthcoming events and outings to be considered and booked. One was the Women Reaching Women Day on April 21 at the Guildhall, when we will hear what we can do to help women in developing countries to bring up their families. Representatives from Oxfam, Tree Aid and Farmers Overseas Action Group will speak, showing how, with their help, communities become self sufficient; not just giving them help but giving them hope for the future. It should be a great day.

Our February meeting was enlightened by a talk on the 60s from Ray Sturdy. His slides were a broad spectrum of that decade with much audience participation and much laughter. It is said that if you remember the 60s you were not there but our members definitely remembered and enjoyed the memories.

It is our birthday meeting on Wednesday, March 3, and we are looking forward to welcoming members from other institutes who will be joining us.
