A POPULAR youth centre is opening its doors to more youngsters after increasing demand.

The Droitwich Spa Youth Zone in High Street has launched drop-ins for 11 to 13- year-olds.

The move comes after the centre announced that more than 200 13 to 17-year-olds already use the centre each week.

Offering a safe and secure place for youngsters to get together, the centre has a chill-out area, television, music deck, games machines, pool table and computer suite.

Staff decided to open up the service to more youngsters after regularly having to turn people under 13 away from its existing drop-in times.

New sessions will take place on Fridays, from 4pm until 6pm and Saturdays, from 2pm until 4pm, beginning this Saturday when parents are welcome to visit and have a look at what is on offer.

The young people will be expected to follow the Youth Zone’s code of conduct and the sessions will be run by youth workers along with volunteers.

More volunteers are always needed to help out with all age groups.

Rob Mace, Spa Youth Zone Manager, said: “We are pleased to be expanding our service to offer sessions for this younger age group.

“We know they like to meet up in town and Spa Youth Zone is an ideal place for them to chill out with friends in a safe environment and participate in fun activities.”
