A FILM following in the footsteps of last year’s Mayor of Worcester as she went about her civic duties is on show for all to see.

Councillor Lucy Hodgson is shown entertaining guests in the Mayor’s parlour in the Guildhall, attending civic events, guesting on hospital radio and even baking cakes in her home.

The 41-minute film called Pomp and Circumstance, made by a local video producer but only recently published online, followed a week in the life of the Mayor.

Coun Hodgson, who has since been replaced as Mayor by Councillor Andy Roberts, said it was a strange but interesting experience.

“It was a way to show the hectic life of being a Mayor,” she said. “I found it nerve-wracking at times and it was very strange driving the car and being filmed, but I got used to it after a while.

“I was a bit self-conscious watching it back but I think the film was a good reflection of what a mayor does.”

During the film, which was made last April for Splash TV’s community channel and can be seen by visiting splash-tv.co.uk, Coun Hodgson said she thought a good mayor should have good stamina, patience, humility and good manners.

In the film Coun Hodgson said: “I haven’t made any momentous decisions or thought of some wonderful project that’s come to fruition but I don’t think that’s what my role is.

“It’s a civic role and I think I have helped to enhance civic pride in the city.”

Splash TV, based in Suckley, is run by Mike Jackson who works as a freelance director for the BBC as well as making promotional, training and community films in Worcestershire.

He said: “Lots of people have asked to see the film about Lucy Hodgson. By putting it on our website it goes into the public domain and anyone can enjoy this profile of an impressive community figure in a great city.”
