First prep school get-together sees former friends reunited

THESE former Worcester pupils, some of whom had not seen each other for more than 50 years, recently enjoyed a special reunion.

Forty-four former students who attended Barbourne Preparatory School between its opening in 1941 up to 1965 gathered from all over the UK to see old friends at the Worcester Golf and Country Club. The reunion was organised by David Ranford, who started researching the locations and details of his old school friends in August 2009 with the help of others and using various websites.

Judy Oliver, the daughter of the school’s former headteacher Mrs Brady, was the special guest.

Mr Ranford is hoping that another reunion will take place in two years’ time.

He is keen to trace more pupils who attended the school, which was based in Waterworks Road, Barbourne, Worcester, until it closed in 2004. If you were a pupil up to the 1970s, contact David Ranford by e-mail at david@ranford.co.uk or call 01905 353142.
