Worcester council pair pedal for Sport Relief

TWO Worcester City Council officers did their bit for Sport Relief by completing a 26-mile bike ride yesterday.

Andy Cooper, aged 21, assistant sports development officer and Jon Wilson, 41, community football development officer, rode from Worcester to Kidderminster and back.

The men managed to raise about £100 with their ride, which saw them set off from the Worcester City Football Club ground in St George’s Lane at 11am, and arrive back promptly at 2.30pm. Although they did not do much specific training for the race, both men are quite athletic and managed to finish the ride without much trouble.

Sport Relief culminates in a television appeal and weekend of fund-raising events, including the Sport Relief Mile, on March 19-21.

All the money raised by the public is spent by Comic Relief to help transform the lives of poor and vulnerable people, both at home and across the world’s poorest countries.
