A VILLAGE primary school celebrated its new pirate ship with 59 portions of fish and chips courtesy of a local pub.
The pupils of Upton Snodsbury First School now have their very own wooden pirate ship – the HMS Upton Snodsbury.
Pupils dressed in sea-themed costumes while enjoying fish and chips supplied by the the Oak in Worcester Road, Upton Snodsbury. Half the money for the ship was raised by friends of Upton Snodsbury First School, and the other half was donated by HSBC bank.
Headteacher Sue Hardwick said: “It’s called a play boat, so it’s not necessarily a pirate ship. It was delivered on Tuesday but the children didn’t know as it was a surprise.
“We thought we would have a special day today to launch the boat. All the children dressed up and we had some super costumes. We had 59 portions of fish and chips delivered at noon in time for lunch and they were delicious.”
