County pub to help the heroes

A WORCESTERSHIRE pub is to host a fundraising party for injured soldiers.

The Berkeley Arms at Spetchley, near Worcester, will hold the Help for Heroes event on Friday, March 26, raising money for the national charity that supports wounded servicemen and women and their families. There will be 1940s live music, a disco, a raffle, an auction and prizes for the best fancy dress. Tickets are £15 per person.

Help for Heroes was founded in October 2007 to help the wounded men and women returning from war in Afghanistan and Iraq.

In June the Berkeley Arms is hosting a summer ball to continue raising funds for the cause.

I really dont think you know what you're talking about. If you really think the Government compensate soldiers to the nth degree then you live in a fantasy world. Do you really think £15k per annum is a lot of money to fight Brown/Blair's Wars? Ben Parkinson is just one example of the Government forgetting about our servicemen and concentrating more on their expenses.

I think until you go on a tour to an operational theatre such as Afghanistan, lose limbs in an explosion then see if the compensation and support you get from the Government is enough I dont think you can really comment.

Just shows how un-educated you really are when you seem to hink that anyone wounded gets thousands in compensation.

Whether you agree or disagree on the amount of compensation which is paid out to forces personnel if they get injured there is nothing wrong with the patriotic members of society showing their appreciation for the sacrifices they have made. It's more about being able to do something for them rather than supplementing any government payouts.

"deserve" to be wounded you really have a twisted slant on patriotism, our forces work hard to keep us safe not just from terrorist but there is also the drugs culure being used to raise funds for these war mongers around the world wether you support the action or not they are human beings carring out a vocation in many cases, I have just come back from Wooton Bassett where aprroximately 15,000 bikers rode 13 miles in support of the Afghan Heroes they came from all over the UK, most of the route was lined with people waving flags, cheering and clapping and having posters displayed in full support?
We will be running a similar event from Worcester in the summer.
