THREE Worcester mums had an extra special surprise this Mother’s Day, receiving beautiful bouquets of flowers after their children won a Worcester News competition.
The contest, where youngsters drew pictures of their mums, was run with florist Beautiful Flowers, of Reindeer Court, Worcester.
Lucy Evans, aged six, of Woodstock Road, St John’s, drew a picture of mum Kate, which earned her the top prize of a bouquet worth £50.
The 47-year-old said: “I didn’t even know she had entered until I saw the picture on the website. It’s wonderful. I was so chuffed when I got the phone call.”
Second prize, a £30 bouquet, went to Melanie Thompson, 30, of Kilbury Drive, Whittington, Worcester, after her daughter Emily Smith, three, sent in a picture of her mum.
Melanie said: “It’s very nice. It was a big surprise, I didn’t know anything about it – my mum entered the picture on my behalf.”
Hannah Scott, 10, of Barn Close, St John’s, Worcester, came third with a picture of her mum Alison McDonald, 46, who got a bouquet worth £20.
Ms McDonald said: “These flowers are beautiful. It’s wonderful to win and we’re so excited. I did know she had entered, but it’s a lovely surprise to win.”
