THE University of Worcester and Wychavon District Council have been recognised as two of the best public bodies to work for.
They were included in a list published by The Times on Sunday.
Wychavon was put in at number 16 - second out of all councils in the list - and the university at number 54 - one of three to make the cut.
Hereford Sixth Form College was fourth in the table.
The awards looked at all organisations across the public and private sector and this year the public sector was expanded to include bodies outside local government.
Councillor Paul Middlebrough, leader of Wychavon District Council, said: “We’re very proud that even during these tough financial times we managed to keep our staff happy and motivated.
"Staff are the greatest asset we have and the better they perform the greater the benefit for our customers.
“It is also a recognition of the achievement of the staff that they rank so highly alongside not only councils but the whole range of private companies and public sector organisations.”
Professor David Green, the University of Worcester’s vice chancellor, said: “This accolade is a tribute to the purposeful, professional and inspirational work of colleagues throughout the university and their ability to create a friendly, inclusive working environment.
“However, we are not complacent and are focussed on becoming an even better place to work and study and making a bigger more dynamic contribution to the region and the city of Worcester.”
