A TEENAGER who attacked a former friend he wrongly suspected had damaged his car was warned by a judge that yobbish behaviour in the street will not be tolerated.
Sean Wright confronted Christopher Ryder at night in an alleyway leading off Areley Common, Stourport, near the Squirrel Inn on April 23 last year, said Paul Whitfield, prosecuting at Worcester Crown Court.
He felled Mr Ryder with a single punch.
His victim was so frightened that he agreed to pay for car damage he had not caused.
Mr Ryder suffered a cracked tooth and fractured jaw, forcing him to go on a liquid diet for six weeks.
Wright, aged 19, of Witley Way, Walshes estate, Stourport, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm.
He was given 36 weeks detention, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to do 150 hours unpaid work.
He was also told to pay £250 court costs and compensation of £1,250 to Mr Ryder.
Samantha Powis, defending, said Wright had no previous convictions and had shown genuine remorse.
Judge Toby Hooper QC said Wright had carried out gratuitous violence which would not be tolerated.
