FREE swimming sessions in Worcester have proved so popular the scheme is to be extended to allow more people to take to water.
In the last year keen swimmers aged 60 and over and young people aged 16 and under have been enjoying the benefits of a two-year-long Government initiative.
Worcester City Council announced in November that it had seen an extra 25,000 swims take place at Worcester Swimming Pool in Sansome Walk since the scheme was introduced in April.
Sessions are now being extended to include people aged 50 and over and the parents or carers of young people aged 16 and under during the weekends. The scheme for all ages is due to finish at the end of March 2011.
The free swimming sessions will be available at Worcester Swimming Pool during normal public swimming sessions.
The scheme is not limited to those people who can swim, though, with sessions in water confidence to be held at various times in the future.
Pool timetables can be downloaded from harpersfitness.co.uk but people can also call 01905 20241, or e-mail worcester@leisureconnection.co.uk, to order a copy.
