FIVE years of work to develop a blueprint that will shape the future of Droitwich is finished.
The plan is a document that highlights how people see the town’s future progressing.
Key points in the plan were gathered in a series of public consultation exercises in 2008.
It represents the views of all sections of the community, identifies features and characteristics that people value in the town and includes an action plan of how to achieve the future vision.
It can be used to form practical projects, put across the needs of residents and help influence and form plans and policies, and can become a major reference to guide planning and development decisions by the local councils.
Droitwich Mayor Maureen Lawley and her consort Don Lawley attended the official completion of the plan on Monday.
They joined town plan executive committee members and Father Doug Chaplin at St Richard’s House.
The plan has made a number of recommendations. Issues include the High Street, education, canal regeneration and leisure facilities.
People said they wanted the town to make more of its rich history. Other suggestions included an arts centre and a revamp of the train station.
Committee member Father Doug Chaplin said: “I would like to thank everyone who has been involved, especially volunteers on the steering committee who have had to put in the hard work over the years.”
Copies of the plan will be on view in Droitwich library, Victoria Square.
