HAVE you got what it takes to be crowned Miss Worcester? These two girls hope they do.
We have been receiving a steady stream of entries to the competition that will see the winner go on to represent the city in the prestigious Miss England contest.
If they win that, they will have a shot at becoming Miss World.
These entrants into Miss Worcester 2010, sponsored by Sin and Bushwackers, are receptionist Maria Coleman, aged 21, of Tenbury Wells, and student Holly May, aged 20, of Perdiswell, Worcester.
Current Miss Worcester Leanne Groutage, aged 18, of Holt Heath, has already spoken about how wearing the crown for the last 10 months has helped her personally and professionally.
While it has been hard work trying to fit in all her appointments, she said she has enjoyed every moment.
There have been a number of changes to this year’s Miss Worcester event, with entrants not needing to take part in a talent contest at this stage.
The competition has also been switched from its traditional evening slot to take place during a family fun day at Worcester Racecourse on Sunday, May 9, which will include a fair and even a small zoo.
Contestants taking part will have to dress up and be interviewed by a competition host. A list of questions they might be asked will be sent out before the event.
The closing date for entries to Miss Worcester 2010 is 5pm on Friday. After all the entries are in, Worcester News readers will vote for the 10 finalists.
All of the girls who make it to that stage will be in line to receive a goody bag while plans are also being developed so that the finalists can take part in some modelling.
