A SPECIAL event at Chipping Norton blends the talents of a world famous orchestra with a top director and an international violin star in a production of Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale.
The London-based Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields is performing the Faustian tale of a soldier tricked into giving his soul to the devil at The Theatre for one night next Thursday.
Director Lawrence Evans is at the helm and the part of the soldier is being played by acclaimed violinist Anthony Marwood.
Theatre spokeswoman Rebecca de la Bedoyere said: "This exciting hybrid of music and theatre combines drama, music, film and physical theatre and gives the First World War story a social perspective relevant to the modern day."
The Academy is the most recorded chamber orchestra in the world and has received many international awards, including a pile for film soundtracks Amadeus and The English Patient.
Theatregoers can talk to members of the orchestra after next week's show in a free informal question and answer session.
