Courtyard-based theatre company New Theatre Works (NTW) is back with five new pieces, written by writers aged between 17 and 25.

A total of 30 young people submitted work, which was then whittled down by director Dr Ellie Parker, in conjunction with Soho Theatre and Birmingham Rep.

The five selected writers are Martin Henshall, with Did The Pope Smoke Dope?, Matt Hartley, with Tarmaccing the Belt, Lucy Heywood, with Waning and Waxing, Susan Harrison, with Smoking Gun Holding and Harriet Diplock, with The Social Worker.

The winners will now be working with a team of actors and directors to experience the "page to stage" process.

NTW presents From Page to Stage, on June 8 and 9, at 7.30pm, culminating in the announcement of an overall winner.

Based on the experience of women working in the munitions factory in Rotherwas, the story will unfold with the assistance of MediaDev and the BBC.
